Shinsegae International Signs Exclusive Distribution Contract with 'CFCL'
Shinsegae International is solidifying its position as a leader in imported fashion by adding a new fashion brand that is gaining attention in overseas markets to its portfolio.
On the 25th, Shinsegae International announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution contract in Korea with CFCL, a global fashion brand representing Japan. Through this contract, Shinsegae International has become a strategic partner of CFCL, overseeing product sales through both online and offline channels in Korea, as well as the wholesale distribution within the Korean market. Starting from the 2026SS season, domestic operations will begin in earnest, with plans to open CFCL’s first global flagship store in a major area of Seoul as early as the first half of next year.
CFCL is a fashion brand founded in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020 by founder and creative director Yusuke Takahashi, who hails from Issey Miyake. Recognized for its innovative use of 3D computer-aided knitting, CFCL proposes knitwear as tools for people to use in their contemporary life, with an emphasis on functional clothing, environmental consideration, optimal material selection, and a transparent supply chain. Representative products include the voluminous, three-dimensional “POTTERY” series that symbolizes the brand and “FLUTED” series that creates a unique silhouette by combining two types of rib knitting.
Late last year, Shinsegae International operated a CFCL-exclusive popup store near Dosan Park in Apgujeong, Seoul. The pop-up showcased a variety of products in a space that conveyed CFCL's brand identity. It attracted significant customer interest, achieving results beyond expectations during its one-month operation.
Recognizing the brand's potential for growth, Shinsegae International aims to strengthen the competitiveness in the imported fashion business through exclusive distribution and brand development for CFCL in Korea.
Accordingly, Shinsegae International will focus on promoting the sustainable brand value and philosophy that CFCL pursues. CFCL has become the first apparel brand in Japan to be certified a B Corporation, an international standard, highlighting its focus on environmental sustainability. Its design method using programming-aided knitwear dispenses with the need to cut the material, it results in almost no waste. Furthermore, the brand actively uses recycled and certified materials. CFCL also aims to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2030.
William Kim, CEO of the Fashion Division at Shinsegae International, stated, “I am thrilled to introduce CFCL, which stands out in the global market through innovative technology, craftsmanship, and design philosophy. We will implement various strategies to widely communicate the product quality and appeal of CFCL to Korean customers.”
“Our partnership with SI is a strong testament to CFCL’s deep commitment to the Korean market. We look forward to building long-term brand value together through shared vision and trust.” said Naohiko Matsuura, CFCL COO.
