Shinsegae international is pleased to announce that it is honing its expansion into the international fashion business with American luxury brand Enfants Riches Déprimés, by sealing an exclusive distribution deal for the Korean market
The first stand alone Enfant Riches Déprimés boutique is scheduled to open in May 2025 near Dosan Park in Seoul, where Supreme, Louis Vuitton Pop-up, Gentle Monster and CASETiFY stores are around. This will be its second official store in the world after Paris and the first in Asia.
As the international luxury fashion business continues to grow amidst the polarization of consumption, the strategy is to further increase competitiveness in the imported fashion market by adding Enfant Riches Déprimés, which has recently been attracting global attention, to the portfolio.
Founded in 2012 by artist and designer Henri Alexander Levy, Enfants Riches Déprimés is a cutting-edge luxury unisex label, celebrated for its exclusive, handcrafted pieces and original artwork. The brand seamlessly fuses high fashion with an uncompromising sense of artistry and nonchalance.
Since the collection’s launch. Enfants Riche Deprimés has developed a loyal customer base by world-class musicians and artists and fashion enthusiasts. Over the years, it has attracted Another factor in the brand's popularity is its strategy of producing only limited quantities to maximize rarity.
Representative products include leather jackets with a deconstructed sensibility, T-shirts with strong artwork inspired by punk culture, knit sweaters with a vintage feel that looks frayed, and hand-made sterling antique silver accessories.
In the echoed halls Sotheby’s Paris, Enfants Riches Déprimés unveiled their Printemps/Été 2025 collection, a macabre exploration of forced assimilation, rejection, and the silent oppression underlying modern existence.
The collection critiques the suffocating forces of societal norms, deconstructed designs embellished in antique silver, bronze, and silk. Harsh silhouettes, raw seams, and self-binding details evoke a sense of constraint and repression. Yet their glossy, opulent materials symbolize the emptiness of excess, while youthful, skin-baring pieces confirm and entice the fever dream of passé consumption.
At the heart of the collection is a critique of the commodification of art and the repression of creative expression. Muted tones and subtle accents emphasize the conflict between raw artistic integrity and the suffocating forces begat by commercial success. ERD’s work questions the self-imposed bondage we entertain in our pursuit of autonomy and success, creating a collection that is both a meditation on and a confirmation of the silent command within culture that holds society captive.
A representative of Shinsegae International said, “We expect that this unique brand, which combines high-end fashion and subculture touch, will receive much love in Korea as well.”
